Dans une période de bouleversement où la politique européenne et internationale était en constante évolution, les immigrants et les exilés politiques vivant à Londres ont créé des périodiques qui ont activement contribué aux débats politiques nationaux et internationaux. Reflet d’une discussion interdisciplinaire et internationale, ce livre propose une approche sur le long terme de la presse politique, en s’intéressant aux périodiques publiés dans les langues européennes. Il approfondit la recherche actuelle sur l’exil politique, le rôle de la culture de l’imprimé et des réseaux personnels en tant qu’agents interculturels, et la dynamique des échanges politiques et culturels transnationaux dans les capitales mondiales.
Les chapitres s’appuient sur les périodiques brésiliens, français, allemands, indiens, italiens, portugais, espagnols, espagnols et russes. Ils s’intéressent aux groupes politiques étrangers présents à Londres tout au long du 19ème siècle et aux causes et mouvements qu’ils ont défendus, analysent la presse dans des contextes locaux et transnationaux, et se focalisent sur ses acteurs et sur les conditions matérielles dans lesquelles cette presse a été créée et diffusée.
