Résumé : _ »Arise Ye Wretched of the Earth »_ propose une histoire renouvelée de l’Association Internationale des Travailleurs. Fondée à Londres en 1864, la première Internationale rassemblait des syndicats, des associations, des coopératives et des travailleurs individuels dans toute l’Europe et aux Amériques. Elle luttait pour l’émancipation des travailleurs et organisait la solidarité avec les grévistes. Elle participait à des événements majeurs, comme la Commune de Paris en
1871. Elle apparut rapidement comme une menace pour les pouvoirs européens, qui la calomnièrent et poursuivirent ses militants. Malgré sa scission en 1872, l’AIT joua un rôle décisif dans l’histoire de l’internationalisme ouvrier. A notre époque de capitalisme mondialisé, de migrations économiques de masse et de replis nationalistes, l’histoire de la première organisation internationale de travailleurs reste riche d’enseignements.
